570 News: $2 million in funding announced for 7 local non-profits

Christine Clark, 570 News – Seven local non-profits are getting a funding boost.

A combined total of $1,935,700 has been invested through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Among those benefiting from the grant includes:

  • Community Justice Initiatives of Waterloo Region
  • K-W Working Centre for the Unemployed
  • Parents for Community Living
  • Planned Parenthood Waterloo Region
  • Project READ Literacy Network
  • Sustainability CoLab
  • The YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo.

“The work that organizations like Parents for Community Living have been doing in Waterloo Region has helped to create the kind of stronger, more inclusive community, in which we all want to live,” said Catherine Fife, MPP Kitchener-Waterloo. “I am hopeful that these grants from the Ontario Trillium Foundation will empower even more innovative community programs to flourish.”

“These organizations provide vital services for local residents, contributing to the caring and inclusive society we are striving to create,” said Daiene Vernile, MPP for Kitchener Centre. “From improving sustainability to enabling employment, and increasing education opportunities, the funds are the catalyst needed to move these organizations and our community forward.”
