
Welcome, New Board Members!
We are thrilled to welcome three new Board members to Green Economy Canada! Together, they have a wealth of experience in sustainability and innovation and we are very excited for the new perspectives and knowledge they will bring to the organization.

Arthur Kong
Arthur Kong brings years of experience in innovation, science, and industrial policy. He is the Director of Project Development at Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen) – one of Canada’s Global Innovation Clusters. At NGen, Arthur leads the development and delivery of multi-million dollar non-dilutive funding programs for industry-led advanced manufacturing projects – including programs targeted at the EV value chain and industrial decarbonization. Prior to joining NGen, Arthur was the Head of Science, Innovation, and Policy with the British Consulate-General Toronto where he led the development of bilateral partnerships between British and Canadian companies and researchers, across key sectors like critical minerals, next generation batteries, and electric vehicles. Arthur graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) with a Master of Public Administration in Public and Economic Policy. He also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Carolyn Kim
Carolyn Kim is the Vice President of Corporate Affairs for UPS Canada, leading policy issues related to sustainability, transportation and supply chains, as well as international trade, customs, and labour. She brings nearly two decades of land use, sustainability, and transportation policy and planning experience to the table and has a passion for cultivating partnerships to build sustainable cities. Before joining UPS, Carolyn was a Senior Director at the Pembina Institute, overseeing programs that advance clean transportation, energy efficiency in buildings, and workforce planning in the energy sector. At Pembina, she founded a business coalition to tackle urban freight decarbonization in Canada. Previously, she was on the Board of Directors at Blue Green Canada. Carolyn has a Master of Public Policy from the University of Toronto and Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning from Toronto Metropolitan University.

Tom Ewart
Tom Ewart is Associate Vice-President of Sustainability at The Co-operators Group. He and his team drive collaboration to help the organization realize its vision of being a “catalyst for a resilient and sustainable society.” Their efforts have resulted in Co-operators consistently ranking in the top 10 of Corporate Knights’ Best 50, an annual ranking of Canada’s top corporate citizens, and nabbing the top spot in 2020. Prior to joining Co-operators, Tom was the founding Managing Director of the Network for Business Sustainability—a network of more than 6,000 researchers and managers committed to advancing sustainable business. He’s also taught courses in Western University’s Masters of Environment and Sustainability program, and in the University of Waterloo’s Environment and Business Program. Tom graduated from Western University as a gold medalist in the Engineering Faculty and as an Ivey Scholar from the Ivey Business School. He earned a Master of Environment and Business from the University of Waterloo. In 2015, he was recognized as an Emerging Leader by Canada’s Clean50.
