Sudbury letter: Taking care of business
Carole Lavallée of Chelmsford, ON wrote a heartfelt letter to the Sudbury Star about Green Economy North and the inspiring businesses taking action through that Green Economy Hub.
I might be a member of Citizens’ Climate Lobby with the national headquarters in Sudbury, but I have to admit an embarrassing fact. I had no idea The Green Economy North existed in my own backyard. By default, I had no idea a growing group of Sudbury businesses and organizations committed to lowering their carbon footprint were being feted in an evening of recognition with Ontario’s Environment Commissioner, Dianne Saxe, as their guest speaker.
Thank you to this daily newspaper for bringing all this to my attention. The fact that you turned out to be my source for this important information underscores your significant role in educating and engaging citizens in the hopes of building better understanding of important issues. In a world where just a click of a button brings us to billions of bits of social and political information, it is important to take notice that our local paper is where it’s at for knowing what is going on in our neighbourhood.
