Aaron Freeman

Aaron Freeman
is a managing partner at Pivot Strategic Consulting, a policy and public affairs firm that works with companies and organizations in the environmental sector, as well as Indigenous organizations. Aaron is the Founder of Energy Neighbour, a community-based social venture which makes it easier for homeowners to undertake energy efficiency retrofits. He is also the Founder and Past President of GreenPAC, Canada’s non-partisan organization to build environmental leadership in politics. Through GreenPAC, Aaron established the Parliamentary Internship for the Environment (Canada’s only legislative internship program for the environment), and a community-based leadership development program called Every Day Advocates. Aaron served as a Senior Advisor to the Premier of Ontario and was named one of the Top 100 Federal Lobbyists in Canada by the Hill Times. He has also been awarded a King Charles III Coronation medal and a Canada Clean50 Award for his work as a Sustainability Champion.

Associate Vice President of Sustainable Development

Chrystal Healy
, Associate Vice President of Sustainable Development, is responsible for supporting the implementation of BDC’s sustainable development strategy. Her focus is on aiding SMEs in contributing to a clean, low-carbon economy while ensuring the integration of sustainability principles into BDC’s practices to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. Holding a bachelor’s degree and a master’s in biology, as well as an MBA, Chrystal is a recognized leader with more than 18 years of extensive experience in the field of environment and sustainable development. Chrystal has worked across many industries, gaining a diverse range of expertise and knowledge. She previously held the position of Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Transat and has also worked as Director of Sustainability at Kruger and Quebecor.

Dave Sawyer

Principal Economist
Canadian Climate Institute


Dave Sawyer
is an environmental economist with a long track record in solving policy challenges for sustainable development in Canada and around the world. His work focuses on the economics of reducing pollution and the dangerous costs of climate change. Dave operates EnviroEconomics as an advisor and supports the Canadian Climate Institute as its principal economist. He is a school fellow at Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and has taught graduate level environmental economics courses at the University of Ottawa. He is also a former Executive in Residence with Smart Prosperity at the University of Ottawa. Dave has previously served as vice-president of climate, energy and partnerships at the International Institute for Sustainable Development.
