Green Economy Canada Opens Fourth Round of Funding with $1M in new incentives for EV chargers
Green Economy Canada has launched its fourth round of funding for its EV Charger Incentive Program and is now accepting applications from organizations across Ontario and the rest of Canada. With $1M in incentives available in 2025 thanks to funding through Natural Resources Canada’s Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program, organizations can get back up to 50% of the cost of installing EV charging stations up to $100,000.
A key part of achieving Canada’s net-zero climate targets is reducing transportation-related emissions, which account for 28% of Canada’s total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. One of the barriers to buying electric vehicles (EVs) is the lack of access to charging stations. The EV Charger Incentive Program will provide up to $100,000 per recipient to support the installation of EV Chargers across Canada.
The program is open to legally incorporated for-profit and not-for-profit organizations in Canada who are interested in installing new EV charging infrastructure in public places, on-street, multi-unit residential buildings, workplaces and for light-duty vehicle fleets. This round of funding opens on June 23, 2023 until the funding is depleted.
Projects located in Ontario will have priority access to the funding before projects considered for other regions. We’ve also dedicated 30% of the funding pool to projects that directly benefit and involve Equity-Deserving Groups.
