Green Economy Canada Wins
2026 Clean50 Top Project Award
Green Economy Canada was recently honoured at Canada’s Clean50 Awards as a 2026 Clean50 Top Project Awardee. The Clean50 Summit annually recognizes Canada’s sustainability heroes and most innovative projects tackling climate change and sustainability.
The winning project is, “Fast Forward: Enabling the Net-Zero Transition for SME Manufacturers in Atlantic Canada”, a technical study to understand the pathways to net-zero for small and medium-sized manufacturers in Atlantic Canada, and the opportunities and barriers they face in making the net-zero transition. With our partners, the Pembina Institute and CBCL Limited, we worked with one participant from each Atlantic province to complete technical studies, conducted a scan of policies and programs that could impact the net-zero transition for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and interviewed service providers in Atlantic Canada to understand the local capacity to support the transition.
The results of the study ended in a set of 4 recommendations:
- Accelerate grid decarbonization in Atlantic Canada
- Increase climate education and capacity building for SMEs
- Increase SME-specific climate action financial incentives and rebates
- Boost workforce skills development for the green economy in Atlantic Canada

We believe Atlantic Canada will be a key regional leader in Canada’s journey in the transition to a net-zero future.
Through this study and report, we laid out a roadmap for collective action, with an aim to inform provincial and federal policy.
We are thrilled to be honoured as a 2026 Clean50 Top Project Award recipient, and we congratulate our friends, partners and peers who were also honoured this year!
The Fast Forward: Enabling the Net-Zero Transition for SME Manufacturers in Atlantic Canada project was made possible thanks to the generous support from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
