Green Economy Canada and the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce Launch Pilot Program to Empower Manitoba SMEs on the Path to Net-Zero
Green Economy Canada is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) and its Manitoba Green Advantage program. This pilot initiative is designed to help Manitoba’s small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) transition to sustainable business practices and take meaningful action toward a net-zero Canada.
Our initial cohort of the Strategic Sustainability Initiative, consisting of 17 Manitoba businesses, will serve as climate champions in the region. Focused on implementing tangible strategies to reduce their emissions, Green Economy Canada will help the cohort set and achieve sustainability goals for themselves, growing their business’ resiliency with every step.
This initiative comes at a pivotal time, as demand for greener business solutions grows across the province.
“SMEs make up 98% of Manitoba businesses, and a significant portion of these organizations want to invest in change but need guidance and resources to help them get started,” says Chuck Davidson, President & CEO of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce. “This initiative will help meet this need, and provide essential financial support for our local SMEs to flourish in the low-carbon economy.”
Joshua Buck, Senior Manager of Service Excellence & Innovation at Green Economy Canada, echoes this statement. “This pilot will allow us to further accelerate the low-carbon transition in Canada by helping Manitoba businesses take meaningful climate action. We’re thrilled to welcome many new Manitoba organizations to our sustainable business network and look forward to supporting them with training and the means to create meaningful, positive change in their businesses and their communities.”
